Descriptions
Committee on Finance and Insurance – The Committee on Finance and Insurance shall have charge on all matters pertaining to the financial condition of the Village, shall audit and examine the Village Treasurer’s report, shall receive estimates from the other committees for annual appropriations, shall supervise the preparation of the annual appropriation and tax levy ordinances, shall, from time to time, report its acitivites to the Board, and shall make regular reports of the Board of the financial condition of the Village. Said committee shall also be responsible for the consideration of all legal matters relating to the Village and for making recommendations of actions to be taken by said Board on legal matters. Said Committee shall keep the President and Village Board advised on the insurance which is carried by the Village and shall make recommendations as to insurance to be carried by the Village. Committee on Park and Pool – The Committee on Park and Pool shall have charge of all matters relating to the maintenance and financial condition of the parks located within the Village and of the Village swimming and wading pools. Committee on Police – the Committee on Police shall be charged with the responsibility of supervising, in conjunction with the Village President, the Police department of said Village and the operation thereof. Said Committee shall also, where there has been misconduct on the part of any policeman, see that the appropriate charges are filed and prosecuted before the proper group. Committee on Streets and Alleys – The Committee on Streets and Alleys shall charge of and direct all improvements on public thoroughfares, and shall have charge of and superintend the opening, laying out, widening, extending and vacating of all streets and alleys. Said committee shall take such steps as are necessary to keep the street and alleys of the City in a good, passable and safe condition. Said committee shall from time to time, report to the Village Board such changes, repairs and improvements of streets and alleys, which it thinks should be made. Committee on Trees and Sidewalks – The Committee on Trees and Sidewalks shall charge of all matters relating to the removal or trimming of trees and brush located upon public properties or in public ways and relating to the planting of trees thereon. It shall also be responsible for the repair, maintenance and replacement of sidewalks for whose maintenance the City is responsible. Committee on Water – The Committee on Water shall have general supervision over the water supply of the Village, and all improvement and equipment belonging thereto. It shall make, from time to time, report its activities to the Board and make recommendations as to repairs and improvements and purchases of equipment to be made by it. Committee on Sanitation and Sewage Disposal – The Committee on Sanitation and sewage Disposal shall have general supervision of the garbage removal and sewage disposal systems of the Village, shall supervise all improvements and extensions thereto, shall, from time to time, report its activities to the Board, and shall make, from time to time, recommendations as to repairs and improvements to be made to the system.
